01

Your plant and objective

Describe the site, the equipment involved and what you want to change. Use a short process description in everyday terms. A useful objective explains the required outcome rather than prescribing a particular PLC or screen before the installation has been reviewed.

  • Company, site location and main contact
  • Plant or machine name and process description
  • Present issue and desired operating behaviour
  • Whether the enquiry concerns support, improvement or a new installation
02

Installed controls and available records

List the controller and operator-interface models if known. Include the software versions and relevant connected equipment. Say which records are available; the absence of a drawing or backup is itself useful information for scoping the investigation.

  • PLC, HMI, drives and industrial communications
  • Software and firmware versions where available
  • Program backups and electrical drawings
  • Photos, alarm messages or existing functional descriptions
03

Interfaces and responsibilities

Identify other machines or systems affected by the change. Include suppliers and the people responsible for the mechanical, electrical and production aspects. A small change can involve several interfaces, and the scope is clearer when those dependencies are visible.

  • Upstream/downstream machines and handshakes
  • Existing historian, database or reporting interfaces
  • Client, contractor and supplier responsibilities
  • Site access and operational approval arrangements
04

Timing and constraints

Tell us the preferred timing and any fixed production or maintenance windows. Explain the operational impact if the equipment is unavailable. Describe access limitations and whether remote investigation is possible. Availability and delivery dates are confirmed after the scope and resources have been reviewed.

  • Preferred start date and required milestones
  • Maintenance/shutdown windows
  • Production impact and testing opportunities
  • Location, access and available site support
05

Send the enquiry

Contact Rod on 0417 068 000 or Steve on 0414 719 070, or email rod@rsautomation.com.au. Start with a concise brief and identify which supporting files are available. Send software, network details and other sensitive records through a transfer method agreed with the team rather than publishing them on a public page.
